Simple Food Health Tips

Do you want to lose weight? There is tons of literature out there of varying degrees of legitimacy. Eating healthy is directly related to fitness and weight loss, yet where does a person begin in order to think about eating right? Keep it simple; there are no secrets. Knowing some basic tips can be helpful. Consider the following:

Power of Protein

It is important for you to ingest foods and drinks with high amounts of protein. Protein is broken down by your body in order to fuel muscles and to promote the body’s various systems. Different foods offer their respective amounts of protein, so it is important to check nutritional information. Additional protein can be ingested via health bars, weight training supplements, and sports nutrition supplements.

Viva la Vitamins

Vitamins and minerals are a vital component of a healthy diet.

Vitamins and minerals facilitate the body’s functions and potential. For instance, vitamin B complex can help the body burn carbohydrates and vitamin C contributes to skin and eye health. A balanced diet offers a lot of vitamins and minerals, yet isolated dietary vitamins are available to those who need help finding all needed nutrients.

Shapely Snacks

‘Snacks’ are supposed to help bridge meals. Snacking can become detrimental if you’re consuming ‘junk food’ or snacks high in fat and calories. It is much more beneficial to seek healthy snacks such as nutritional bars, fruits, or vegetables. Snacking can be habitual; so, if you’re going to do it, then be mindful of your snack’s health contents.

Drinks and Inches

Some people are amazed to find soft drinks, sodas, and other refreshments negatively influence their diets.

In some cases, a drink such as a ‘shake’ can contain just as many calories as a meal in addition to a ton of fat calories. Drinks can definitely add inches to your waist, so search for health drinks. If you’re a person who enjoys drinks as snacks, then consider pre-mixed nutritional drinks or get a blender and experiment with fruits and vegetables.

Raw Food Diet Health

We all want optimum health and a raw food diet can deliver that I can assure you. Here are the reasons why.

When we cook food we are setting fire to it and sadly many of the nutrients will be destroyed. When we strain off the hot water from those boiled vegetables we are pouring all the goodness down the drain.

When you eat raw food your liver and kidneys are freed up to keep your body healthy instead of devoting all their time to getting rid of the toxins you put inside your body.

A proper raw diet eliminates constipation and the time it takes for waste to pass through the body is reduced to 24 hours or less. For people on a conventional diet it takes upwards of 72 hours or more.During this time the rotting food ferments and putrefies resulting in foul smelling gas and faeces

The rotting proteins in the colon can result in colonic diseases such as colitis and cancer.

We experience weight loss better sleep and clearer skin.I can attest to the fact of weight loss as I lost 22 pounds over the course of 3 months when I switched to a raw food diet.As you eliminate all forms of salt and condiments you will lose any excess fat.

The red blood cells in our body are better able to transport the oxygen to all the cells in our body which results in better mental clarity.

Cold flues and general aches and pains disappear and one’s overall quality of life improves.

As you begin to detox however you may experience discomfort as this process plays out.You could experience tiredness a runny nose and headaches. These are all signs that the body is making healthy adjustments.

You may experience gas problems after you have moved to a raw diet but this can be eliminated in time by using correct food combining.

Each of us will react in a different way.The duration and degree of the detox will vary.It can be slight or intense, last a few days or several months.Just let the liver and kidneys do their work.

Eating must be a joy and if you cannot eat it in it’s raw state that it should not be eaten. There has been no adaptions in the human physiology to allow for cooked food so this should give us a clue about what we should be eating today.

We know that the water and sugars of fruit require almost no digestion only absorption giving the body a lot less work to do,which cannot be said for cooked food.It is so processed it is a wonder the body can extract anything out of it at all.

So in summary a diet rich in green leaves and a variety of fruits will give us all the nutrients we need and put the least amount of demand on our body that is possible.A raw food diet will bring you health and longevity.

Health-Friendly Soul Food

The old way of cooking soul food resulted in health problems for many African Americans, like high blood pressure, obesity and diabetes. Dishes are being prepared very differently these days because of all the negative health consequences of the old methods. Advanced cooking methods and healthier ingredients are being used now to make dishes that are lighter and leaner.

This is not the same as your grandmothers soul food, which was full of unhealthy animal fat. This newer approach attempts to maintain the hearty flavors and satisfying textures produced by the older methods. What you want is to make the great classic dishes without harming your health.

For one thing, modern soul food meals don’t include the classic, artery-clogging fatback. Fatback is the name for the fatty layer along a pig’s back. The old style of cooking called for fatback to be added when making black-eyed peas, greens, and other vegetables.

You can use the healthier smoked turkey necks for flavoring Southern meals, rather than the traditional fatback. Smoked turkey necks frequently have only 10% of the fat that the more commonly used fatback has.

Another difference in soul food recipes nowadays is the notable decrease in sodium. Instead of using salt as a main flavoring agent, which contributes to blood pressure problems, other spices are used. You can add plenty of flavor by using hot or savory spices like gumbo file, cayenne, onion powder and garlic.

A big revision in the way soul food is prepared today is the total absence of lard, the animal fat that was formerly used. Oils that are less heavy are more in demand among cooks these days. Like oil made from olives, peanuts, rapeseed or other vegetables.

An increasingly common difference in soul food dishes has come about due to their altered preparation techniques. Healthier techniques and methods of cooking are replacing the old tradition of deep frying food in lots of fat. People who are concerned about their health are now opting to braise, oven roast, bake, and broil rather than deep fry. Deep-frying is known to be more harmful to your health than these approaches.

Pork products are gradually decreasing in popularity as soul food staples as time goes by. Pork products have long been considered a significant causative factor for the higher rate of high blood pressure among African-Americans. Increasingly, dishes are based on chicken, fish and vegetables which are better for everyone’s health.

Given all the changes in soul food for the better, even Grandma would approve. Grandma’s tradition of just plain good food being served at family celebrations is kept going. But people who shift to this modern brand of Southern cooking will be healthier, and will be around to enjoy it longer.

Kosher Food and Health

Religiously significant, kosher food that is considered appropriate and proper for consumption by Jewish biblical laws is also replete with health benefits. Though orthodox Jews consume kosher meat and kosher food items, numerous individuals all over the world have opted for kosher products, owing their health benefits.

Researchers have proven that kosher meat is better than the ordinary meat, available in the market since, the kosher food is considered to have low cholesterol and fat content. Eating dairy and meat together results in increasing cholesterol levels, in the human body and the digestion process becomes lengthy and difficult. Glatt kosher items generally do not have high cholesterol content since; the kosher diet does not endorse the combining of dairy and meat products together in dishes.

Your New Health Food

It seems like these days, healthy eating has become such a multi-billion-dollar industry that everyone knows what it’s like to get bombarded by ‘The New Health Food!’ ads for Acai whatnot and Goji Berry thingamajig. It’s an unfortunate aspect of our pharmaceutical culture that we’ve learned to look for cures for specific ills, and we treat food the same way. Cranberries for UTIs, carrots for vision problems, prunes for constipation…we’re treating food like it’s medicine, and it’s failing us. We need a new health food regimen.

It’s true that Hippocrates said “Make food your medicine and medicine your food”, but that’s not what he meant. By eating right in general — every day — we prevent far more illnesses than we could ever hope to treat. The point is not to respond to conditions by seeking a superfood, it’s to prevent conditions by getting proper nutrition.

Nutrition doesn’t stop at food, however.

The body also takes in water, air, sunlight, and surface contaminants. If your water or air aren’t clean, or you don’t get enough sun, or you’re spreading chemicals on your skin that disrupt your body’s functions, all of the right eating in the world won’t give you perfect health. But it will help — more than you probably realize — to make your ALL of your food your ‘New Health Food’.

It starts with a proper quantity of protein and fats. There are proteins (amino acids) and fats (fatty acids) that your body cannot make on its own, but it needs to survive. They are called Essential Fatty and/or Amino Acids (EFAs and EAAs). Omega-3 and Omega-6s are the most well-known EFAs, and EAAs are so commonly overlooked that deficiencies in them are responsible for almost 80% of emotional disorders in the USA. (EAAs are the basis of mood-stablizing hormones, so if you don’t get them, you don’t get the hormones, which destabilizes your mood and causes depression, irritability, and ADHD.)

It’s critical to get at least 80 grams of protein in a day, including at least 80 grams per weeks from eggs and 80 grams per week from red meat. That will ensure that your body has enough protein to build tissues and repair organs with, and your brain will be able to create all of the hormones it needs to provide mental and emotional stability.

Protein: your New Health Food!

Similarly, fats are critical to your body’s ability to fight infections, injuries, and illnesses. Your body’s fundamental response to these things is inflammation: the ability for your body to focus heat, blood, and antibodies at the site of injury or illness and attack the problem head-on. Your EFAs are vital to your body’s ability to target inflammation in an effective manner. If your Omega33/Omega-6 balance is off, your body may not be able to become inflamed, and thus be unable to fight off injury or illness — or worse yet, it may become hyper-inflamed or uncontrollably inflamed, which causes problems like chronic pain, oversensitivity (of the physical kind), and even advanced problems like fibromyalgia and some kinds of cancer.

The key with fats is to get both Omega-3s (fish oils, olive oils, nut and seed oils) as well as Omega-6s (vegetable oils), in roughly a 1-to-1 ratio. This is very challenging for most of us, since we all eat vegetable, corn, or canola oils in almost everything, but peanut oil is expensive and fish oils are rare. Establishing the ratio, however, dramatically improves your body’s ability to maintain it’s own health.

Raw Food Health

The interest in raw food health is growing. What do I mean by “raw food health?” Simply that amazing positive changes in health can often be achieved when one turns to a diet that consists mostly of raw vegetables and fruits.

Is there any evidence of this? There sure is.

Disease happens inside the human body for various reasons. There are causes for disease. And the cause just may be with the foods we’re eating.

I’ve been privileged to discover the human body can often rid itself of much disease … in an almost miraculous way. If you know anyone who is now battling disease then there is hope … in the same way there was hope for tens of thousands of individuals who found out the same thing I did.

Somewhere back in the mid-1990s, my mother-in-law came to our house for a visit. She set a magazine in front of me about health and nutrition and said she was amazed by its contents, especially the testimonials.

Apparently, individuals in the magazine claimed they were totally healed from all types of diseases, including things like cancer, diabetes, lupus and severe arthritis …

after simply changing their diet.

“Uh Huh,” I thought to myself. “Sure they were. It’s nothing more than quackery, except this form of delusion was coming under the guise of nutrition instead of some ‘magic potion’ sold inside a bottle.”

Since I’d always thought myself to be a healthy eater I perused the reading material out of curiosity … especially the stories. What I read almost seemed fictional, especially considering the severity of the diseases, depth of sicknesses and reported miraculous healings.

There were some things within the material, however, that seemed plausible. For instance, the notion a person’s immune system could be suppressed because of poor nutrition, which could then lead to sickness.

Accepting that idea, however, opened the door for more questions: Could a proper diet cause a person’s immune system to begin functioning at an optimal level? Could the diseased condition then be reversed if it were brought about by poor nutrition or a suppressed immune system?

My initial skepticism about the material was taken over by thoughts of theoretical plausibility. The stories in the magazine certainly conveyed a hint of truthfulness in them. There did seem to be some evidence (at least on the surface) that there may be more of a connection between diet and disease than most people — myself included – ever considered.

At the very least, this magazine offered some interesting ideas to consider. I couldn’t help but think to myself how great it would be if there was some degree of genuineness within its pages.

How wonderful it would be if tens of thousands of individuals now sick with terrible diseases could get well … simply by changing from their present diet to one that consisted primarily of raw “living” foods!

My interest in raw food health has continued to grow in recent years. Eventually I was moved to interview people who had experienced the type of jaw-dropping health change that often comes with the adoption of a raw diet. While there is no uniformity of agreement among health professionals on this, or any other, subject. It’s hard to argue with the testimonies of individuals who have experienced the truth of raw food health in their own lives.
